March 3, 2015 Central Farm, University of Belize and Horticulture Center R & D

Talking with the students and the teachers at the U of B farm campus was very exciting. They may have had a small campus, yet had taken advantage of almost every space. They were studying a wide range of farming, including greenhouse grown peppers, hogs, vegetables, fruit trees of many species. The provost Gordon Holder was focused on teaching farmers, young and old about sustainability and how to enhance their lives by finding the right training. Trinidad Mendez was knowledgeable in his various fields of growing. He was happy to work with the USDA in helping to trap to find out and verify what kind of larvae are attacking his vegetables. Mr. Mendez was almost certain it was fall armyworm.
